I'm not sure why Lewis Carroll's well-loved book Alice in Wonderland is so inspiring, but it's always held a certain fun and contagious element for me with such great imagery. After seeing a fabulous exhibit at the V&A Museum in London, I stopped in Regent's Park to sketch out this Curiouser & Curiouser illustration. The images and fun of the story is reflected in the hand-drawn lettering that curls around the images and dream-like background. This inspired another two illustrations of the Eat Me and Drink Me cake and bottle of elixir with the same color palette.
Drink Me: an editorial illustration of a pretty bottle and illustrated pattern border inspired by Alice in Wonderland.
Eat Me: an editorial illustration of a cute little cake and illustrated pattern border inspired by Alice in Wonderland.
Sketching out the original Curiouser & Curiouser artwork in my sketchbook whilst sitting in the park.
All three images inspired by Alice in Wonderland, including Curiouser & Curiouser, Drink Me, and Eat Me, all featuring editorial and storybook illustration, hand-drawn lettering and surface design illustration.
