Illustrated Farmers' Market Outdoor Banner
The Brief: To create a cheerful banner for a local farmers' market to advertise the market and bring some fun into the weekly summer event for Vicksburg, Mississippi.
Role: Illustrator and lettering artist responsible for all research, illustration, and lettering.
Tools Used: Procreate app, iPad Pro, Apple pencil, and Photoshop
The city of Vicksburg in Mississippi wanted to create a printed banner to greet people as they entered their weekly summer farmers' market and asked me to create something that would be fun, cheerful, and enticing to their local community. Using images of fruit, vegetables, baked goods, and prepared foods that local sellers are offering each week, I created this whimsical illustration, complete with hand-drawn lettering (and a few puns). We started with three sketches of ideas for the banner layout, then selected one to finish for the final printed banner and inserted the client logos and pertinent market information for passerby to know more about the market. The client was very happy with the end product, which was printed large-scale at 2 feet by 6 feet and hung above the market entrance.
